15th of August…62 yrs of freedom...Wasn’t this a big day for our country…??? The President’s address to the nation did not hold any importance, nor did the Prime Minister’s speech on the Independence Day… Or should I say it wasn’t as important as Mr. Shahrukh Khan who was detained at an airport in America for a security check…!!!

Innumerable news channels on the television...and there were hardly any channels airing special programs on I-day… Leave aside special programs, the channels didn’t even bother to play again the Presidential address and the P.M.’s speech… There were discussions and special programs about “racism against a special community”…
Agreed…
...Knowing the mindset of the Indian audience and the craze towards these superstars, I agree, this was news…But at the same time this wasn’t such a big issue that it the I- day was being sidelined nor was it such an important issue that needed to be on the channels all day long…This much air space wasn’t given by these channels even when ex- president Dr. Kalam had to go through a security check, which was absolutely against the norms…But HE didn’t create a fuss n nor was there even a buzz in the media…On the contrary the news about Dr. Kalam’s security check came about three months later on 21st of July and the incident had occurred on 24th of April...WHY..?? Wasn’t this important…?? or because he wasn’t Shahrukh Khan..?? Or…because he wasn’t doing a movie called “My name is khan” which could have given him a free publicity…!!

I fail to understand what was so wrong about Mr. Shahrukh Khan’s security check…He is a superstar in India…It’s not necessary that people all around the world should be followers of his cinema…n besides he was checking in at an airport…and not walking at the red carpet at a film festival where people would stop by to take his autographs…

We might not like to admit it…but most of the terrorists are from a certain community…I agree that its quite unfortunate that a certain community has to go through all this…but whether we like it or not…we do have to accept that…

Specially after the 9/11 attacks, the US security has been very firm…there security is not like the Indian security…Had our security been as strict as theirs’, there wouldn’t have been terrorist attacks, one after the other in the country…All other countries are not like India… giving all possible comforts to Kasab, tolerating his misbehavior in the court…!!! There is nothing wrong if he thinks of our system as a place of mockery...We are giving him this opportunity to believe the same…

Well…I might have diverted from my point…what I was mentioning was that the Indian media is not too young anymore to not be able to understand its responsibilities towards its viewers …when they say “khabar har kimat par” or “Nazar Har Khabar Par”, are we interested on your "nazar"on such "khabars", all day long..?? If you really think so, it’s time for some serious introspection on your part… It’s not these stories that the Indian masses are yearning for…Not at least on days like 15th of August, where there is no dearth of programs that can be aired…
