I have not been keeping well from the past few days so haven’t been going to the university lately…I guess its for the first time in the three years of my graduation that I have been on a 3-4 day leave…I love my university and I love being there…my friends often tease me that I should have a house made for myself there as I never want to leave the university premises….I have thoroughly enjoyed every bit of my college life…
But during these days when I was ill, (though it was nothing much…its just that the name of tests like CT scan n all make u a bit worried) I came to know how important my friends are for me… always expecting someone’s call and the feeling that I had when they called…it made me feel special…it always made me smile… it made me feel that there are people in this world, apart from my family, who really care about me…my EXTENDED family…thank you all for making me feel so special…may be u guys would laugh at this, but it means a lot to me…love u all…I feel blessed to have you all as a part of my life…I wish and pray that u all be a part of my life ALWAYS…
"At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom,” were the words of Pt. Nehru. But it is sad that even after more than six decades of our independence, India still hasn’t been able to abolish poverty, ignorance and diseases from among its people. Though a considerable amount of success stories have India’s name today, there are still miles to go ahead.
Today the destiny of India is joyous yet sorrowful. Increasing levels of corruption have let down India. It is a big industry which is yet to be exposed. Truth here is sabotaged at all levels. The ones who favor the truth, at some point or the other, find themselves to be in danger. Corruption has become an issue of major political and economic significance in the recent years and the necessity to take measures against it has become quite evident.
I strongly feel that corruption has its roots everywhere so it can be abolished only when the common men raise their voices against this. A unanimous reaction can never be left unheard. The journey to fight against corruption will surely have a good result. It will then be an India keeping its foot forward towards growth and prosperity, success and achievement.
Be it the coverage of the terror attack, a business scandal or the ups and downs in political circuit, every media house is on the run to be the first. But in this run are they compromising with their ethics?? There has been a lot of talk lately on the role of media while covering the “breaking news”. Is it fair for the audiences to be served with an over-dramatized version of news just to gain the eyeballs?? Should there not be an extent to what is being presented in the name of facts?? Does the privacy of individuals, especially celebrities hold any importance in the race of TRP’s??
It is only the media organizations which can replace these question marks with full stops. They are the only ones which can find an answer to these questions. It has been experienced that the coverage of news sometimes arouses fear in the minds of the people. For e.g., a few days back there was a report in the media which it was forecasted that earth would perish in the hours to come. This had such a huge impact on the minds of the audience that some of them went to the extent of committing suicides.
Another fresh example of the coverage to gain eyeballs was the one during the Mumbai terror attack. A few irresponsible channels, in the name of facts gave and in the run to give exclusive news, even gave away the secrets like the positions of the NSG forces.
News organizations have a huge audience and they are the only ones who can regulate their content and serve the audiences with the news which have an aim to inform, educate and entertain them and not to traumatize, scare and discourage them. It is considered as the fourth pillar of our democracy and thus should be responsible enough while catering to the needs of its audiences.
